Taking a Break from dA

Mon Dec 13, 2010, 4:39 AM
I've decided that I'm going to give up posting any more work to dA for a while as I simply don't get many views of my work here any more - it's time for me to streamline where I post. It's been like this for a while although recently it's slumped even further.

I'll be posting on my website - www.moopf.com/ - and on Twitter - www.twitter.com/moopf

And you can always keep up to date on progress with my Arthur and Charles project at www.arthurandcharles.com/

Cheers

Today I've launched my new website at www.moopf.com including an online store with originals, vinyl/resin toy customs, badges and much more. Enjoy!

Not much art from me lately, apologies for that. However the reason is that I've been spending a ridiculous amount of time producing a custom Sketchbot for a custom show at myplasticheart in New York at the end of this month. As it's now been announced I can finally talk about it (but I can't show you the custom yet!). More information about it is on a new post on my blog:

Sketchbot Custom Show in NYC with a Custom by Me

Really looking forward to the show and seeing all the other customs created for this new vinyl toy platform.

New Website Finally Live

Journal Entry: Thu Oct 1, 2009, 5:28 AM

Finally I have a new website. It's only taken me a year or so to get around to doing it but I found the time and it's gone live today:

www.moopf.com/

I'll be using the blog there instead of the journal on deviantArt to keep my mumblings and bumblings in one place in the future. Do stop on by the website and keep up to date on what's happening with me via. the blog there. Of course, I'll still be uploading my work to deviantArt, you don't get rid of me that easily!

Looking for Paper Toy Customisers

Journal Entry: Tue May 12, 2009, 1:44 AM

I released a blank template for my first paper toy a couple of days ago, called Bertie and I'm really keen for others to produce some custom skins for it. I've started the ball rolling with my Bertie 'Rainy Day' custom, and I have another one in the pipeline that I'm working on, but it would be great if other artists could bring their own styles to the template so if you're interested, please download the template and get cracking!

I've also started working on a new web site to replace the simple page I currently have at moopf.com as I desperately need to do something with that site, and bring things together in a more coherent manner.

Anyway, that's it for this update. More soon, I hope.

Keep On, Keeping On

Journal Entry: Sat Mar 7, 2009, 1:51 PM

Nothing much to say really, just wanted to update my journal with a new selection of favs, this time some older ones that I still love.

I'm still beavering away on ideas for a children's book but my real work keeps getting in the way (been working all today on the day to day, "normal" stuff.) Also keep looking at the long amoeba piece that still needs finishing for our front room. I'm determined to get around to that sometime soon.

By the way for all of you that are on Twitter, please feel free to follow me at moopf @ twitter. Only recently started using it and I can now see the attraction :)

Bye!

Spiffy New Journal Design!

Journal Entry: Mon Feb 23, 2009, 7:46 AM

Welcome to my new dA journal layout. It's taken me a few days to get it finished - I knew what I wanted but twisting the CSS to allow it was an exercise in frustration. So, what exactly does this layout do that I'm so excited about...

See that header at the top. Reload the page a few times (leave 5 seconds or so between reloads otherwise you won't see what's going on.) Now, if you're in IE7 or above, Firefox 2 or above or in Chrome etc. you should see different header images when you reload. Neat, huh! Nothing amazing I know, but stretch your browser window - you'll see that the main part of the header always stays in the middle, whilst the background stays in place. Now that took some working out - I'm a stickler for wanting things centered! :) IE6 users will always get the same header because that browser doesn't recognise PNG transparency unfortunately so that gets a design that doesn't need it.

Oh there's something else at the bottom of my journal as well - the "Random Doodle-oodle-Lings" box. Again, reload the page and you'll get a different doodle. I'll be adding doodles on a regular basis, and more headers, but after spending days on this already I need a break!

There are a few tweaks and CSS cleanups I need to make and if you see a header where the background doesn't appear to go with the foreground do let me know what browser you're in. Pulling in two random images that go together as a pair was a head scratcher and it may go wrong once in a while!

I've just uploaded a deviation called 'Floating Off', a little Valentines card image that I'm making available under Creative Commons for all you lovely visitors to use to print your own cards. The download file for the deviation contains a 300dpi version of the image, suitable for printing on a standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch card.

The deviation is here.

If you download it, I'd really appreciate a comment being left, but it's not compulsory. Most of all, enjoy!

OK, so I've put up a couple of deviations today for you all to have fun with - a pack of high resolution images for christmas cards and a pack of high resolution snowboarding snowmen that would be ideal to use as gift tags for the presents you're going to give.

I haven't released under Creative Commons before but as it's coming up to christmas and I have these images sitting around I figured why not make them available.

Have fun using them if you download them! Ho ho ho.... consider this my christmas present to you all to say thanks for taking a look at my little corner of deviantArt.

Not sure what to say. I look at the Daily Deviations every morning to check out the work being featured and have just realised that the iPhone Wallpaper pack I put together yesterday containing some of my digital deviations is on it this morning. I'm in shock. But, what a great start to a Friday :)

I mean just *gulp*, not sure what else to say!

If you've found my work through the DD today, welcome. I hope you like what you find here!
